Continuing to Al Hamra, you visit a traditional museum in the historic quarter to learn more about rural life and architecture. The road then leads you to Misfat, often described as one of Oman’s most beautiful mountain villages, with its stone houses, date palms and ancient irrigation channels.
You travel on to Jabrin, where an elegant 17th‑century castle rises out of the wild landscape. Inside, finely carved stucco, painted ceilings and wooden details showcase Omani artistry. A brief stop is made in Bahla, known for its fort and pottery, before you continue to Nizwa, where you spend the night. Overnight in Nizwa.

From here a long, winding mountain road climbs to around 2,000 metres up to Jabal Al Akhdar, the “Green Mountain”. At the famous Diana’s Point viewpoint you enjoy sweeping vistas over terraced fields carved into the steep slopes. This is where the roses used to make precious rosewater are cultivated during the flowering season.
The surrounding villages of Saiq, Wadi Bani Habib, Al Ain, Al Uqr and Al Shrijah offer breathtaking views of peaks, gorges and wadis. After dark you are collected for a guided turtle‑watching excursion. Oman is an important nesting ground for five of the world’s seven sea turtle species, with more than 30,000 nests recorded each year. Two days in Muscat, a city tour with Ahmed — superbly done, very personal; we were only three people. If you have Ahmed as your agent and guide you can only be satisfied. The four-day tour that followed was perfectly put together. Our guide Hamed was attentive and eager to please us. I can warmly recommend him. The tour took us from Muscat up to Jebel Shams, through Nizwa and the Wadis into the desert and finally to the sea, ending at Turtle Beach. This is the perfect introduction for getting a first impression; I would travel to Oman again. Thanks to Neos Travel for organizing everything.

From planning to on-site activities, the whole trip was fantastic. Mostafa offered excellent guidance when choosing our destinations and the accommodations he selected. Our driver-guide Hassan was also superb, guiding us through the secrets of Oman’s culture and nature. We were especially grateful for the support from Mostafa and Hassan when one of our children came down with a brief but nasty stomach flu. We were able to adjust the route at short notice, and an alternative accommodation was quickly arranged. We would love to return to Oman and would gladly plan more discoveries with Mostafa and Neos Travel next time.
