You start the day with the absolute highlights of Cairo. Visit the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World: the Pyramids of Giza. For nearly 4,000 years, their extraordinary shape, perfect geometry and sheer size have raised the same questions: how and why were they built? Learn all about the tombs of the pharaohs.

Nearby you see the legendary Great Sphinx, whose lion body was carved from a natural rock outcrop and stretches over 45 metres. Afterwards you stop at a papyrus institute to discover how paper was produced in antiquity, followed by a visit to the papyrus museum.

Later you explore the world-famous Egyptian Museum with its countless treasures. Marvel at statues, sarcophagi and ancient Egyptian maps. The famous pharaoh Tutankhamun awaits you in his own exclusive section of the museum.

Immerse yourself in Egypt’s history on a sightseeing tour to some of the most impressive sites in Cairo’s old city quarter. Visit the Saladin Citadel on the Muqattam Plateau, which offers sweeping views over the metropolis.

Inside the complex you admire the Alabaster Mosque, built between 1830 and 1848 for Muhammad Ali Pasha. Continue to the Sultan Hassan Mosque, considered one of Cairo’s most harmonious and enduring mosques.

You then learn about the Al-Rifa’i Mosque, whose construction began around 150 years ago, was halted in 1880 and resumed in 1905 under Khedive Abbas Hilmi II. The work was completed in 1911 by Ahmed Khairy Pasha under the supervision of Austrian architect Herz. If time allows, you also visit the Al-Hakim Mosque on Al-Muizz Street.

Today a private transfer takes you from Cairo to the Bahariya Oasis. After arriving in the oasis, you switch to a 4×4 vehicle and drive into the desert to explore the dramatic Black Desert.

You continue to Crystal Mountain to admire shimmering quartz formations, then head into the Valley of Agabat with its surreal rock sculptures. In the late afternoon you reach the White Desert, where wind-sculpted chalk formations create a dreamlike landscape.

You stop to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets imaginable and take memorable photos as the rocks glow in pastel colours. After dark, enjoy a delicious Bedouin dinner and tea. You can stroll around the desert camp and then prepare to sleep either under the stars or in tents.
