Day 1

Welcome to Jordan! – Ahlan wa Sahlan!

Evening view over the city of Amman with warm lights and historic buildings welcoming new arrivals

Points of Interest : Amman

Your family adventure begins as you land at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. A local airport representative greets you warmly and assists you smoothly through entry formalities so you can relax after the flight.

In the arrivals hall your driver is already waiting with a smile, ready to take you into the heart of Amman. After around 45 minutes you reach your cosy base for the first nights: the stylish LIV Weibdeh Hotel, where a spacious two-bedroom suite allows everyone to settle in comfortably.

Unpack, take a deep breath and enjoy the anticipation – your Jordan journey has officially started.

  • Meals included : None
  • Accommodation : LIV Weibdeh Hotel, Amman (2-bedroom suite)
Day 2

City adventure in Amman – Discovering with all senses

Family walking through Amman old town with view of the Citadel and Roman Theatre

Points of Interest : Amman

After breakfast, your first full day in Jordan begins right outside your hotel door. Your German-speaking guide meets you in the lobby and takes you on a special city walk through Amman.

This is no dry city tour, but a sensory adventure for the whole family. You wander through hidden alleys and small unsigned cafés, admire colourful street art, and pass by fragrant spice shops. In the streets of Lweibdeh you smell jasmine, hear music drifting from storefronts, and maybe even taste freshly pressed sugarcane juice.

You visit major sights such as the Citadel and the Roman Theatre, but also lesser-known corners where everyday Amman lives: artists’ studios, friendly shopkeepers, old houses, modern galleries and many stories along the way.

By the end of the day, you will have discovered Amman with eyes, ears and hearts wide open.

  • Meals included : Breakfast
  • Accommodation : LIV Weibdeh Hotel, Amman (2-bedroom suite)
Day 3

Romans, bees and nature – A day full of discoveries

Ancient Roman colonnaded street in Jerash with a family exploring the ruins

Points of Interest : Amman, Ajloun, Jerash

This morning your rental van is delivered directly to the hotel, and your German-speaking guide for the day meets you at reception. Together you set off for northern Jordan.

Your first stop is Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world. You stroll across the impressive colonnaded forum, explore the ancient theatre and pass under the triumphal arch, while the children search for hidden corners and secret passageways. History comes alive here in a playful way.

You then continue into the countryside to visit a real beekeeper’s farm. You learn how bees live and work, and how they protect their queen. Equipped with protective beekeeping suits, you can approach the hives safely and observe the buzzing activity up close.

The beekeeper introduces you to six famous Jordanian bee products – such as honey, pollen and wax – and of course there is the chance to taste them. After this varied day, you drive back to Amman with new stories and perhaps a little jar of honey as a sweet souvenir.

  • Meals included : Breakfast
  • Accommodation : LIV Weibdeh Hotel, Amman (2-bedroom suite)
Day 4

From colourful mosaics to weightless floating – A day of wonders

View from Mount Nebo towards the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea under a clear sky

Points of Interest : Mount Nebo, Madaba, Dead Sea

After breakfast you start another exciting family excursion. You drive towards Madaba, the famous “City of Mosaics”. In the historic Church of St. George you admire a colourful 6th‑century mosaic – one of the oldest maps of the world. Together you can try to spot Jerusalem on the stone map.

Only about 20 minutes farther is Mount Nebo, from where the prophet Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land. You enjoy the sweeping panorama – a wonderful place for a family photo with a biblical backdrop.

From here the road leads down to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea. Now it is time to experience floating without effort: the salty water is so dense that you simply bob on the surface like on a natural waterbed. Children will be amazed, and adults can fully relax.

You end the day together by the water, with plenty of quiet time and a tasty dinner, before settling into your two interconnecting rooms at the comfortable Dead Sea Spa Hotel.

  • Meals included : Breakfast and dinner
  • Accommodation : Dead Sea Spa Hotel (2 interconnecting double rooms)
Day 5

Fun in the water, healing mud and a touch of wonder – A day at the Dead Sea

Family floating on their backs in the Dead Sea covered with therapeutic mud

Points of Interest : Dead Sea

Today is all about relaxing and enjoying your resort at the Dead Sea. You have the whole day free to make the most of the pools and play areas – perfect for active children and parents who want to unwind.

The entire family can experience the unique feeling of floating effortlessly in the salty Dead Sea. It is not only entertaining, but also beneficial for the skin. Right on the beach you can cover yourselves in the famous mineral-rich Dead Sea mud – a fun wellness ritual that fascinates both children and adults.

For the curious, there is the option of a short drive to Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the traditional baptism site of Jesus, where you can add another chapter of regional history to your trip.

Whether you choose activity or pure relaxation, this day belongs entirely to you.

  • Meals included : Breakfast and dinner
  • Accommodation : Dead Sea Spa Hotel (2 interconnecting double rooms)
Day 6

Farm life, crusader castle and starry skies – A day full of experiences

View over Karak Crusader Castle perched on a hill above the Jordanian landscape

Points of Interest : Karak, Little Petra

This morning you leave the Dead Sea behind and drive to Karak, where a local farming family welcomes you warmly. Here you experience Jordanian country life with all your senses.

You help bake traditional Arbood bread, collect free-range eggs and milk the sheep, before sitting down to enjoy a fresh organic breakfast with sweeping views over the Mujib Valley.

Afterwards you stroll through the nearby village and explore ancient ruins from Roman and Byzantine times. A special treat for younger travellers: you can dress up in “Madraqa”, the traditional clothing of Karak, and pose for memorable family photos against the dramatic scenery.

Then the day turns knightly as you visit the imposing Crusader castle of Karak. You wander through tunnels, halls and thick stone walls, imagining what life might have been like for the knights and lords who once lived here.

In the late afternoon you arrive in Little Petra and check in at your desert camp. Children can roam freely, play and watch the sun set over the rocky landscape. In the evening you gather around the campfire, share stories and gaze up at a sky filled with stars that shine brighter than usual here.

  • Meals included : Breakfast and dinner
  • Accommodation : Little Petra Bedouin Camp (family tent with private bathroom)
Day 7

Freedom, rocks and campfire – Family time in Little Petra

Family sitting around a campfire near rock formations in Little Petra at dusk

Points of Interest : Little Petra

Today you have the chance to discover the quieter sister of Petra, the fascinating site of Little Petra, entirely at your own pace. There is no hustle here, just plenty of space for young explorers to climb rocks, investigate caves and soak up the magical silence of the desert landscape.

While the children run, play and follow the stone paths and hidden staircases once used by caravans, you can take in the unique atmosphere and imagine life here long ago.

In the afternoon a special highlight awaits. You meet a local family and enjoy a barbecue together amid the rugged rock formations and mountains. Food is grilled over an open fire, and everyone is invited to help with preparing, seasoning and of course tasting. Children are especially welcome to join in.

This day blends grounding and adventure, culture and play in a very natural way – and lets you experience Jordanian hospitality up close.

  • Meals included : Breakfast and dinner
  • Accommodation : Little Petra Bedouin Camp (family tent with private bathroom)
Day 8

Petra – A world wonder for young and grown-up adventurers

Family standing in front of the Treasury in Petra framed by the narrow Siq canyon

Points of Interest : Petra

Today you visit one of the most impressive places on earth: the legendary rock city of Petra, a true world wonder and former stronghold of the Nabataeans.

Together with your German-speaking guide you walk through the narrow gorge known as the Siq, whose towering rock walls feel almost otherworldly. With every bend the suspense grows, until suddenly the famous Treasury appears before you – a goosebump moment for the whole family.

Your guide brings Petra’s history to life with stories about the mysterious Nabataeans, their rock-cut temples, caves and tombs. Children can climb, explore and photograph, feeling like real explorers in a giant stone playground.

To round off the visit, you can enjoy a sweet Bedouin tea while looking out over the incredible scenery, as the children continue to marvel at rocks, steps and caves.

For the way back, a golf cart is provided to spare little legs – a comfortable and fun ride with great views of the site.

  • Meals included : Breakfast and dinner
  • Accommodation : Little Petra Bedouin Camp (family tent with private bathroom)
Day 9

Desert ships and starlight magic – A day in Wadi Rum

Camels carrying a family across the red sand dunes of Wadi Rum at sunset

Points of Interest : Amman, Wadi Rum

Today you experience the desert from a very special perspective – from the back of your own camel. You set off together on an hour-long camel ride through Wadi Rum, each person on their gently rocking “ship of the desert”. Slowly you glide through red sand plains, past rock formations that look like castles from another world.

After the ride you are taken to your Bedouin camp, and the rest of the day is free. Children can run around, climb on rocks or simply enjoy the feel of soft sand between their fingers and toes.

When the sun sinks, the desert sky begins its grand show. The Milky Way shines so clearly above you that it seems almost within reach. It is the perfect moment to ask: why is it actually called the Milky Way? Tonight you might find your own answer while looking up at the stars.

You end the evening by the campfire beneath a sparkling sky – pure desert magic.

  • Meals included : Breakfast and dinner
  • Accommodation : Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum (family tent)
Day 10

Rocks, dunes and desert adventures – Exploring Wadi Rum

4x4 Jeep driving through the red desert landscape and rock formations of Wadi Rum

Points of Interest : Wadi Rum

Today a real off-road adventure awaits you in the spectacular desert scenery of Wadi Rum. Together with your desert driver you embark on a four-hour Jeep tour through this dramatic landscape of glowing red mountains, towering rock walls and hidden canyons.

You visit natural rock bridges, climb soft sand dunes that are perfect for running or rolling back down, and stop at the legendary Lawrence’s Spring. For those who crave extra adrenaline, there is the option to try sandboarding – like snowboarding, but on warm desert sand.

Around midday you enjoy a freshly prepared lunch out in the open, with endless desert views as your backdrop. Afterwards you return to the camp, with time to explore the surroundings, clamber over rocks or simply rest.

In the evening you savour a traditional Bedouin dinner, often cooked slowly in an underground oven, while the stars gradually light up the night sky above you.

  • Meals included : Breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Accommodation : Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum
Day 11

Desert greeting from above and fun at the Red Sea – From Wadi Rum to Aqaba

Aerial view of hot-air balloons floating over the rock formations of Wadi Rum at sunrise

Points of Interest : Aqaba

Early risers can begin the day with an unforgettable optional experience: a hot-air balloon flight at sunrise over the wide expanses of Wadi Rum. Floating silently above the desert, you watch the colours of the sand and rocks change with the first light – a dreamlike moment.

Afterwards it is time to say goodbye to the desert and head towards a new element: the sea. You drive to Aqaba on the Red Sea, where warm temperatures, crystal-clear water and relaxed beach vibes await.

Upon arrival at your resort, you return your rental van and can let the rest of the day unfold as you wish. Build sandcastles, splash in the pool, stroll through Aqaba’s old town or admire colourful fish while snorkelling – every family member will find their own highlight here.

It is the perfect transition from adventure-filled days to seaside relaxation.

  • Meals included : Breakfast
  • Accommodation : Mövenpick Tala Bay Resort, Aqaba (family room with children’s pool)
Day 12

Sun, sand and snorkelling – Family time at the Red Sea

Children snorkelling in the clear blue waters of the Red Sea near Aqaba above colourful coral reefs

Points of Interest : Aqaba

These final days are dedicated to relaxation, swimming and quality family time in Aqaba on the Red Sea. At your resort you can enjoy the pools, soak up the sun and head into the sea whenever you like.

With mask and snorkel you discover a colourful underwater world of corals and tropical fish – like swimming in a living aquarium. For even more action, you can book an optional trip to the local waterpark, a guaranteed hit with children.

If you are in a creative mood, take part in a sand bottle workshop, where you fill glass bottles with layers of brightly coloured desert sand to create your own souvenir of Jordan.

Whether you spend the day actively or lazily by the water, everything revolves around enjoying time together.

  • Meals included : Breakfast
  • Accommodation : Mövenpick Tala Bay Resort, Aqaba (family room with children’s pool)
Day 13

Family walking along the beach in Aqaba at sunset looking out over the Red Sea

Points of Interest : Aqaba

With Katrin, we had the perfect contact for planning our trip. She was always reachable, flexible, and attentive to our wishes — and incredibly quick. Our driver Abed was a kind, helpful, punctual, courteous, open, and flexible person we would not want to miss on any part of our journey. The guides in Amman, Wadi Ghuweir, and Petra spoke good German or English, were informative, and tailored their service to our wishes. Highlights included Jerash, which we would revisit anytime. In Amman, we would explore not only the Citadel but also wander through the city center. Madaba is nice but not a must. The hot springs of Ma'in can be skipped. Nebo Mountain and the view over the Promised Land moved us deeply. The monastery with the modern church was beautiful. Wadi Mujib is a must for a bit of adrenaline. Bring water shoes and a waterproof phone or camera (or bring a waterproof bag; rentals are available locally but can be pricey). The Kempinski at the Dead Sea left nothing to be desired — plan at least half a day to enjoy the infinity pool and the amenities. Hiking in Wadi Ghuweir is wonderful; high, waterproof boots are helpful. Would we book the same hotel again? It looked nice, but we would think twice. We did not find one place overly exciting. For Petra, take the bus for the first 4 km to save time for visiting Petra itself. Petra is, of course, a highlight. With a good travel guide you can also walk a lot on your own. Definitely visit the Sacrificial Site — best approached from the back, not from the Treasury. The cooking evening with a local family was a great insight into another way of life. The jeep tour through Wadi Rum was unforgettable — about five to six hours of lighthearted adventure. Cooking with the guide in the desert was very special. The starry sky from the lodge was not as impressive due to light pollution; if you go to Wadi Rum for the stars, go deeper into the desert and be prepared to compromise a bit at the lodge (restaurant/bath...). Our relaxing finale at a luxury hotel was fantastic — the night-time view of the Red Sea from our room was breathtaking, and the dinner offered unbelievable culinary variety. We hope this report inspires others as much as an earlier review on this site inspired us.

We absolutely cannot recommend the local travel expert. He did not keep the commitments he made in advance and made exorbitant extra demands. That said, Jordan in general is well worth visiting. The ancient ruins are impressive and Petra is extraordinary, and the scenery in Wadi Rum is spectacular. However, Jordan isn’t a very clean country; plastic debris, bottles, and aluminum cans still stick out from the desert dunes. Also, insist that a German-speaking guide accompanies and explains the whole trip. With Neos Travel, you can expect reliable, well-led experiences.

From start to finish, our 12-day journey planned with Katrin from Neos Travel was fantastic. We had unforgettable impressions and experiences. The pre-trip communication was excellent, and the accommodations were beautiful, with the exception of one hotel in Petra. We especially loved the resort in a converted stone village near Petra and the small, very unique and sustainable camp in Wadi Rum. Our driver Mohammad was outstanding—his care and stories enriched the trip, and he showed us places we would likely have missed if we had driven ourselves. Our guides also shared a lot of passion, showing us things that no travel guide would tell you. The Siq Trail and the White Dome Trail, led by our wonderful hiking guide Musa, were particularly impressive and adventurous. Ideal for anyone seeking a bit of adrenaline. We were glad to have two days set aside for Petra. The hike through the back door of Little Petra to the monastery was breathtaking. The hospitality and friendliness of the Jordanians are remarkable. A wonderful country with wonderful people and delicious food. Definitely worth the trip. We enjoyed every single day.

An absolutely wonderful, unforgettable vacation! Neos Travel organized everything superbly through Katrin. Everything was thoughtfully planned, and we could ask all of our many questions at any time and received prompt answers. Katrin took plenty of time for our questions and concerns and tailored everything to our needs. On site, everything ran smoothly; our driver Hussam was very kind and helpful and went above and beyond. The destinations were well chosen, and we will treasure this time in our hearts forever.

It was the first time we booked with a local agency. Neos Travel arranged everything through our local partner. In 11 days we could experience both the fascinating culture and the breathtaking landscapes. Our driver Laith was extremely reliable and took care of everything. Thank you, Laith — we felt very comfortable. Amman, the Desert Castles, Jerash, the Dead Sea, along the King's Highway to Petra and Wadi Rum. Perfect.

This 12-day Jordan itinerary covered many major sights as well as lesser-known gems. We formed our own group of four and had our own driver who spoke German and was available at all times. It was absolutely fantastic! All arranged by Neos Travel.

We really enjoyed Petra, the Dana Region for hiking, as well as Madaba and Jerash. For Petra, plan at least two days, ideally two and a half, as the light changes with the sun. Madaba deserves a full day to see the Church of St. John the Baptist and the Apostles' Church. Salt is also quite interesting, especially if you want to immerse yourself in daily life. Here's a tip: Salt is worth a visit for a glimpse into daily life; Wadi Rum is worth considering only if you plan to venture deep into it for several hours. With Neos Travel, the arrangement was basically fine. Unfortunately, the driver's English wasn't great, and the timing information (when and where to be) wasn't always clear and required several follow-ups, and Petra by Night wasn't possible in our window due to a multi-week festival. That said, we still had a wonderful trip with Neos Travel and would travel with them again.

We landed in Amman and began by exploring the north of Jordan, then the Dead Sea, and especially Wadi Mujib, followed by a drive to Dana for a long hike. Spending two days in Wadi Rum was worth it. The Red Sea offered a nice break before we traced biblical footsteps in Israel. Neos Travel helped tailor the itinerary and we felt well looked after throughout the trip.
