    Day 1

    Arrival in Tanzania – Welcome to the Maasai

Take in the wide views of the snow-capped peak, sip a refreshing welcome drink, and relax by the pool or explore the tranquil surroundings on foot.     Culture & Adventure with the Maasai

    In the morning you set off for Arusha National Park at the base of the majestic Mount Meru. Accompanied by an experienced park ranger, you embark on an easy hike through varied scenery where monkeys, giraffes and brightly coloured birds are frequently seen. After a picnic in nature you continue to Momella Lake for a peaceful canoe outing. Gliding across the water, you enjoy the silence and watch for hippos, flamingos and other waterbirds along the shore. This mix of gentle activity and wildlife viewing makes the day especially engaging for families. In the late afternoon you drive on to Arusha and settle into your lodge for a relaxed evening.

    This morning you explore Arusha on a guided city walk. You visit the colourful central market, watch artisans at work, and get a lively impression of daily life in Tanzania’s safari capital. Around midday you leave the city and drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its ancient baobab trees and large elephant herds. In the afternoon you head straight out on your first game drive in the park, searching for giraffes, zebras, antelopes and, with luck, big cats. As the sun sets over the baobab-dotted hills, you arrive at your atmospheric camp right inside the park.

    Full-Day Safari in Tarangire National Park

    Lake Manyara National Park & Scenic Hike

    In the morning you drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a lush, compact reserve known for its dense forests, flamingos along the lakeshore and, with luck, tree-climbing lions. After an exciting game drive you continue to Mto wa Mbu for a guided hike. The trail leads you down into the impressive Rift Valley through a cool groundwater forest threaded with clear streams and small waterfalls. Along the way you may encounter birds, vervet monkeys, bushbucks and many other forest dwellers. Surrounded by birdsong and the sound of rushing water, you experience the unique atmosphere of this green ecosystem. In the late afternoon you proceed to Karatu, where you stay at a comfortable lodge in the highlands.

    Day 8

    On the Way to Serengeti – Safari En Route

The journey is part of the adventure: you traverse the varied landscapes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and pause at viewpoints for sweeping vistas into the vast crater. Even before reaching your camp you enjoy an extended game drive, searching for the first herds of wildebeest and zebras, and perhaps spotting lions or cheetahs in the tall grass.     Today you experience the Serengeti in all its diversity. On a full-day game drive you explore different habitats, from open grasslands and river courses to scattered acacia woodlands. The immense plains are home to countless animals: vast herds of wildebeest and zebras, various antelope species, elephants and, with some luck, predators such as lions, cheetahs or leopards. Encounters with towering giraffes and inquisitive hyenas are especially memorable for children. You enjoy a picnic lunch in the middle of the wilderness before continuing your wildlife search in the afternoon. As dusk falls you return to your camp beneath a brilliant African night sky.

    Before breakfast you head out on an early morning game drive, the best time to witness the savannah awakening. Lions may be returning from their night hunts, hyenas patrol the tall grass, and the first rays of sunlight bathe the endless plains in golden light. After this magical start to the day you return to camp for a hearty breakfast and then begin the journey back towards Karatu. En route there is time for photo stops and short breaks to stretch your legs. In the afternoon you arrive at your tented camp set amid coffee plantations and rolling green hills, where you can relax and reflect on your Serengeti adventures.

    Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater – The “Garden of Eden of Africa”

    A spectacular highlight awaits today: the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most wildlife-rich areas in Africa. Early in the morning you drive up to the crater rim to admire the breathtaking view into the vast volcanic caldera. You then descend to the crater floor, where an astonishing concentration of animals lives in a relatively small area: elephants, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, antelopes and, with luck, the rare black rhino. Lions and hyenas are also commonly seen here. During your picnic by a lake you enjoy views of wallowing hippos and a wealth of birdlife. In the late afternoon you return to your tented camp in Karatu.

    Return to Arusha

Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to relax at a lodge or head directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward or homebound flight. If you wish, an individual extension, such as a beach stay on Zanzibar, can be arranged. Your family safari in Tanzania thus ends enriched with unforgettable memories—or continues seamlessly with new adventures.
