    Day 1

    Arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and hotel check-in

    Arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, where you are welcomed by a local representative holding a sign with your name in the arrivals hall. You are then escorted to your private driver for the transfer into the city.

    Continue to the Sin Sze Si Ya Temple, a Taoist sanctuary that reveals the spiritual heritage of the city. From there, walk through bustling Petaling Street, the heart of Chinatown, where you can soak up the lively ambience and sample local snacks from the street stalls.

    The tour finishes at the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, one of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest Hindu temples. Your guide explains the symbolism of its ornate architecture and its role in the city’s religious life.

    Kuala Selangor: fireflies and monkeys

    Enjoy free time in the morning to explore Kuala Lumpur independently, visit museums or relax by the hotel pool.

    At around 4:00 p.m., meet your driver and set off towards Kuala Selangor. Your first stop is the unique Sri Shakti Temple, where statues of all 51 Shaktis, the female Hindu deities, are represented. Nearby, you have the chance to see and, if you wish, interact cautiously with long-tailed macaques and silvered leaf monkeys in the surrounding forest.

    After arrival in Kuala Selangor, have dinner at a local riverside restaurant. Once darkness falls, board an electric boat for a silent, low-impact cruise along the Kuala Selangor River to admire thousands of fireflies sparkling among the mangroves—an unforgettable natural spectacle.

    Batu Caves and surroundings

    Head out to explore the famous Batu Caves, one of Malaysia’s most important Hindu shrines. Climb the 272 colourful steps leading up to the grand golden statue of Lord Murugan and the temple cave above, while taking in the views and lively atmosphere.

    After your visit to the shrine, stop at a batik workshop to discover how this traditional textile art is created. Under the guidance of local artists, you can design and paint your own batik piece to take home as a personalised souvenir of your time in Malaysia.

    Transfer to the airport and flight to Penang

    Start your guided tour in the tranquil Penang Botanical Garden, a green oasis home to tropical plants and playful macaques. Continue to the Thai temple of the Reclining Buddha and the nearby Burmese temple, where you can compare the distinct religious art and architecture.

    Head to Fort Cornwallis on the Esplanade, originally built by Sir Francis Light, founder of the British settlement in Penang. Then visit Khoo Kongsi, a richly decorated Chinese clan house, followed by the Peranakan or Baba Nyonya Mansion, which showcases the unique blended culture of Chinese and Malay communities.

    A short walk through the city centre takes you past small galleries, artisan workshops and famous street murals until you reach the wooden stilt houses of Chew Jetty.
