Day 1
Arrival in Muscat

Points of Interest : Muscat
Arrive at Muscat airport, where you are welcomed to Oman. After immigration formalities, your driver takes you to your hotel. Once you have checked in (from 3 p.m. at the latest), the rest of the day is free to relax, adjust to the new time zone or take an independent stroll in the surroundings.

Day 2
From Muscat into the mountain region

Points of Interest : Nakhal, Muscat, Bilad Sayt
This morning you visit the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque (entrance fee payable on site), a masterpiece of contemporary Islamic architecture with grand prayer halls and intricate decor. Continue to the Bait Al Ghasham Museum, a traditional house that showcases Omani cultural heritage, where you enjoy an authentic Omani lunch.
Later you travel to Nakhl, known for its lush oasis, historic fort and nearby hot springs. The journey then takes you off-road through the dramatic landscapes of Wadi Bani Awf (weather permitting), with steep canyon walls and winding tracks, before you reach the picturesque mountain village of Bilad Sayt, nestled among terraced fields and rocky peaks.

Day 3
Mountain crossing and Omani history

Points of Interest : Nizwa, Wadi Bani Awf, Misfat Al Abriyeen
Today you drive to Al Hamra, a charming village with traditional mud-brick houses and narrow lanes that offer a glimpse into rural Omani life. In Misfat Al Abriyeen you wander among stone houses, terraced gardens and the ancient falaj irrigation channels that still water the plantations.
You continue to Bahla, renowned for its UNESCO-listed mud-brick fort and its long tradition of pottery making. Afterwards you visit the impressive Jabreen Castle, one of Oman’s most beautiful castles, with richly painted ceilings, carved wooden doors and airy courtyards. The day ends in Nizwa, where you discover the lively souq and admire the iconic fort from the outside.

Day 4
Nizwa and the Green Mountain

Points of Interest : Nizwa, Birkat Al Mouz, Jebel Akhdar
In the morning you explore Nizwa’s bustling souq, famous for handcrafted khanjar daggers, silver jewellery, pottery and dates. You then drive to Birkat Al Mouz, a village surrounded by palm groves and home to a UNESCO-listed falaj irrigation system, where you can walk among ruined houses and lush plantations.
Your journey continues up into the mountains to Jebel Akhdar, the “Green Mountain” of Oman, known for its cooler climate, terraced fields and dramatic canyon views. You visit the charming village of Wadi Bani Habib, with its abandoned stone houses and spectacular panoramas over the surrounding valleys.

Day 5
From the mountains to the desert

Points of Interest : Wahiba Sands Desert, Jebel Akhdar
You leave the high mountains and drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, a serene oasis with turquoise pools framed by rocky cliffs and date palms, where you can relax or swim in the clear water. In the afternoon you continue towards the golden dunes of the Wahiba Sands desert, an immense sea of sand stretching to the horizon.
Arriving at your desert camp, you can admire the changing colours of the dunes at sunset or join an exhilarating dune-bashing experience by 4×4 before the desert night falls.

Day 6
Desert crossing to Masirah Island

After breakfast you set off across the Wahiba Sands, experiencing the vastness and silence of the desert as you traverse the dunes by 4×4 towards the coast. On reaching the shoreline, you continue to the small port of Shannah and board the ferry to Masirah Island.
Masirah, the largest island in Oman, welcomes you with unspoiled beaches, a laid-back atmosphere and a sense of remoteness far from the mainland bustle.

Day 7
Masirah Island tour

Points of Interest : Masirah Island
Today you explore the wild nature of Masirah Island, with long white-sand beaches and a rugged coastline. The island is a major nesting site for more than 30,000 loggerhead turtles. You observe this remarkable wildlife with care and respect, keeping a distance and avoiding any disturbance to the animals and their habitat, for an unforgettable encounter with nature.

Day 8
Along the coast to Ras Al Hadd

Points of Interest : Ras Al Hadd, Masirah Island
In the morning you take the ferry back from Masirah to Shannah, then follow the coastal road towards Ras Al Hadd, a quiet fishing village with untouched beaches where the desert meets the sea. After settling into your seaside resort, you have time to relax by the water.
In the evening you can join a turtle-watching excursion at the Turtle Reserve (about 20 minutes’ drive from the hotel, entrance fee payable on site). With a ranger you observe the turtles coming ashore to nest, always respecting the animals and minimising disturbance in their natural environment.

Day 9
Along the coast back to Muscat

Points of Interest : Wadi Tiwi, Sur, Muttrah
You drive to Sur, a historic port town famed for its traditional dhow shipyards and scenic corniche. After visiting the waterfront and observing the craftsmen building wooden boats, you continue to Wadi Tiwi, with its emerald pools, terraced gardens and small villages tucked into the valley.
A stop at the Bimmah Sinkhole offers dramatic views of a deep limestone crater filled with clear blue water, perfect for photos. Returning to Muscat, you wander through the lively Muttrah Souq, with its maze of narrow alleys and fragrant stalls, and enjoy a photo stop at the ceremonial Al Alam Palace, framed by Portuguese forts and colourful facades.

Departure or individual extension
