Welcome to Jordan!

You arrive in Jordan in the evening, where a representative from the local agency greets you at the airport. They assist you with immigration, customs formalities, and the visa procedure. Afterwards, you are accompanied to your hotel in Amman to check in and relax after the journey.

Amman City Tour and Dead Sea

After breakfast you begin an in-depth city tour of Amman. In the center, the Citadel, known as Jebel al-Qala’a, rises above the city and offers a fascinating panoramic view over the former seven hills of Amman. You visit the archaeological museum and the historic downtown area that constituted the whole of Amman just a few decades ago.
Strolling through the old town, you pass gold dealers, traditional perfumeries with original Jordanian fragrances, and colorful clothing shops for children, men and women. The atmosphere of the bustling streets brings the city’s character to life. Nearby stands the Al-Husseini Mosque; behind it a lively fruit and vegetable market invites you to browse. Hummus and falafel stands can be found on almost every corner.
In the afternoon, you continue to the Dead Sea. Thanks to its exceptionally high salt content, the Dead Sea is a natural source of wellness, and you can effortlessly float on the water’s surface and enjoy time to relax.

Dana Nature Reserve and Shobak Crusader Castle

In the morning you drive to the Dana Nature Reserve. The ruins in the village bear witness to more than 5,000 years of history. In recent decades, many inhabitants left in search of work in the cities, but thanks to the support of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), local tribes have returned. They are rebuilding the village with its characteristic limestone houses and earning their livelihoods through local products such as goat cheese.
You then continue to the rarely visited but impressively located Crusader castle of Shobak, once called Crac de Montréal by the Crusaders and known as a royal stronghold. After exploring the fortress and its views of the wild surrounding landscape, you make a short detour to Little Petra, the former main caravan station in the Nabataean kingdom, before heading on to Petra.

Hike through the Rock City of Petra
Points of Interest : Petra, Wadi Rum
After breakfast you set out to discover the rich culture of the Nabataeans. Petra reveals its full magic on foot: only by hiking can you reach remote temples and ancient sacrificial sites nestled between multicolored sandstone mountains or perched on high plateaus.
An experienced guide accompanies you and leads you to some of the city’s highlights. The route takes you past the first tomb façades, through the narrow sandstone canyon known as the Siq, and onward to the famous Treasury, El Khazneh. Along the way you see grand tombs, rock-cut theaters, royal tombs and the remains of the old city center, where impressive ruins still testify to Petra’s former splendor.
In the late afternoon you leave Petra and drive to Wadi Rum. At the desert camp you are welcomed with a delicious dinner and can enjoy the silence of the desert night.

Jeep Tour in Wadi Rum & Relaxation on the Red Sea

After breakfast you explore the spectacular desert landscape of Wadi Rum. Slender rock pinnacles, dramatic natural rock bridges and glowing red granite mountains rise from the sand, giving the so‑called “Valley of the Moon” its unmistakable character.
Around 3 p.m. you set off on a jeep tour through the desert, which allows you to reach impressive viewpoints and rock formations deep inside Wadi Rum. After this adventure you drive on to Aqaba on the Red Sea, where time for rest and relaxation awaits you. The southern part of the port city offers excellent beaches for sunbathing and swimming.
In Aqaba you can also go diving or snorkeling among some of the world’s most beautiful and best-preserved coral reefs. Swimming, sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing are further options for active travelers.

Aqaba – Mount Nebo and Madaba Mosaics
Points of Interest : Madaba, Amman
In the morning you leave Aqaba and travel to Madaba, known as the “City of Mosaics”. Here you visit the exceptional 6th‑century Byzantine mosaic map, which depicts the Holy Land with Jerusalem at its center and numerous scenes from the Old and New Testaments. Composed of around two million tiny mosaic stones, it is one of the region’s most remarkable artistic treasures.
Next you continue to Mount Nebo, the place from which Moses is said to have gazed upon the Promised Land. From the viewpoint, you can enjoy sweeping views over the Jordan Valley and, on clear days, even as far as the Dead Sea and Israel. Afterwards you drive back to Amman. In the evening you head to a local restaurant to savor traditional Jordanian specialties – a delightful way to round off the day.

Yazin was unfailingly courteous, professional, and always ready to discuss things and stay flexible. We were rather disappointed with the on-site guide, who did not seem very friendly when problems arose. After one accommodation was canceled, we spent an entire day researching alternative options. When we raised this, the staff member reacted in a very reluctant and snappy way. Ultimately, after a lot of hassle and pressure, our request was accommodated, but it caused a lot of stress and cost us one to two vacation days. Miserable crisis management. Not good service. Otherwise, everyone else—people and guides—was so friendly and helpful that it could not spoil the trip. We are still awaiting a refund of the visa fee for our daughter. It had been charged at airport pickup, even though it was clear (per our chat) that she had already entered two weeks earlier and paid for her visa herself. The guides in Amman, Wadi Ghuweir, and Petra spoke good German or English, were informative, and tailored their service to our wishes. Highlights included Jerash, which we would revisit anytime. In Amman, we would explore not only the Citadel but also wander through the city center. Madaba is nice but not a must. The hot springs of Ma'in can be skipped. Nebo Mountain and the view over the Promised Land moved us deeply. The monastery with the modern church was beautiful. Wadi Mujib is a must for a bit of adrenaline. Bring water shoes and a waterproof phone or camera (or bring a waterproof bag; rentals are available locally but can be pricey). The Kempinski at the Dead Sea left nothing to be desired — plan at least half a day to enjoy the infinity pool and the amenities. Hiking in Wadi Ghuweir is wonderful; high, waterproof boots are helpful. Would we book the same hotel again? It looked nice, but we would think twice. We did not find one place overly exciting. For Petra, take the bus for the first 4 km to save time for visiting Petra itself. Petra is, of course, a highlight. With a good travel guide you can also walk a lot on your own. Definitely visit the Sacrificial Site — best approached from the back, not from the Treasury. The cooking evening with a local family was a great insight into another way of life. The jeep tour through Wadi Rum was unforgettable — about five to six hours of lighthearted adventure. Cooking with the guide in the desert was very special. The starry sky from the lodge was not as impressive due to light pollution; if you go to Wadi Rum for the stars, go deeper into the desert and be prepared to compromise a bit at the lodge (restaurant/bath...). Our relaxing finale at a luxury hotel was fantastic — the night-time view of the Red Sea from our room was breathtaking, and the dinner offered unbelievable culinary variety. We hope this report inspires others as much as an earlier review on this site inspired us.

That said, Jordan in general is well worth visiting. The ancient ruins are impressive and Petra is extraordinary, and the scenery in Wadi Rum is spectacular. However, Jordan isn’t a very clean country; plastic debris, bottles, and aluminum cans still stick out from the desert dunes. Also, insist that a German-speaking guide accompanies and explains the whole trip. With Neos Travel, you can expect reliable, well-led experiences.
